Success in motor racing has always been part of the Mercedes-Benz DNA. The same is true even of the birth of Mercedes brand name. At the end of the 19th-century Emil Jellinek, a businessman who sold Daimler vehicles to the European aristocracy and high society, created a racing team. The racing team was equipped with Daimler cars and were gifted with the name of his daughter: Mercedes.

On this tour you will enjoy driving either a Mercedes-Benz SL (R-107) or a SL (W 113) Pagode. What better way to live the Mercedes-Benz lifestyle as you  experience Italian and French settings and drive on the dreamy roads of Provence and Tuscany.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1:
Classic car drive through Chianti

Your prelude begins grandly when you check in at Borgo Scopeto Relais and enjoy the magnificent view over Siena from the terrace. Your heart beats faster as soon as you turn the ignition key for the first time and drive out your Mercedes-Benz SL classic car. The rolling hills of the Chianti between Florence and Siena with their famous wineries are a symbol of Tuscany. Old palaces and castles, but also dense forests and wide fields characterize the world-famous cultural landscapeof Chianti. And because a stop at one of the charming wineries is a must, stop by one of the oldest in the world, which is also the ancestral home of a noble family. In the osteria of the winery, after the tour and wine tasting, we end the first day of the trip with a nice dinner.

Day 2:
Dream roads to Pienza

A dreamlike landscape that burns in the heart lies before you today. You cross the Crete Senesi on rarely used country roads , characterized by clay, cypress columns, wide grain fields and oak forests. There, where Tuscany shows its most beautiful side, is the little town of Pienza , designed on the drawing board as the “ideal city” by Pope Pius II. On the entertaining tour you will see the cathedral and imposing palaces of the Renaissance, stroll through winding streets and along the promenade, the Corso Rossellino. The afternoon routes are also picture perfect. In the evening, the old town of Siena invites you to take a stroll and individual dinner.

Day 3:
Volterra – City of Alabaster

The motorists among you can be happy: today’s stage is the most varied. Through ancient cultivated land with majestic villas, medieval castles and quiet, remote monasteries, you drive on lonely panoramic roads via San Gimignano to the Etruscan city of Volterra . During your guided tour of this picturesque old town, you will marvel at the high level of artistry of the alabaster artists in one of the studios. Vineyards with well-known names and the Tuscan “Ore Mountains” shape the landscape on your vintage car route back to the hotel. In the evening you dine in the old wine cellar, the atmospheric hotel restaurant La Tinaia with new creations based on the best regional recipes.

Day 4:
Siena – Gothic city jewel

Attracted by their beauty, the rolling hills around Siena have always inspired many artists. Let your gaze wander once more from your roadster into the idyllic distance before dedicating yourself to the cultural legacy of this city ( UNESCO World Heritage Site ) on your tour of Siena . The cityscape is dominated by the mighty cathedral made of black and white marble, whose artfully decorated marble inlay on the floor has achieved worldwide fame. In time for your return flight, we will bring you to Florence Airport, with memories of eventful days and an authentic driving experience at the wheel of our Mercedes-Benz SL traveling in your luggage. Arrivederci and see you soon!
