Classic Car tour of the Amalfi Coast

An ideal way to welcome springtime: You start your journey in the Gulf of Naples, where the average daytime temperature is around 20 degrees C.  You’ll spend all nights in classy Grand Hotel La Favorita, a 5 star hotel in the heart of Sorrento, which will host you for the next few days. From there the much hailed coast of Positano and Amalfi is only a stone’s throw away.

Your Car

Alfa Romeo. Just the sound of the name awakens associations with Italy, and with sporty cars that really stand out from the rest. For some, it means design in its highest and most complete form; for others, it means that yearning by those in the North for things Italian.

For Italians, Alfa Romeo is a part of the homeland.  This is your chance to explore that homeland and drive a true classic of the landscape.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1:
Sorrento

You will be picked up at Naples airport and take you to your hotel in Sorrento. Over drinks, you will get to know your fellow travellers and your tour guides. Following an introduction to the cars and the roadbook, you will already start on a south-west tour of the peninsula, offering stunning views of Capri island. Once you have made it back to your hotel, an experienced guide can walk you through Sorrento and tell tales from its rich history from Phenicians and Ancient Greece, Rome and the Normands.

Day 2:
Amalfi Coast at its best – Positano and Ravello

Today,  leave Sorrento to the north west and take the Monti Lattari mountain roads uphill. Endless bends guarantee for exhilarating driving, while the panoramic views are either facing the Gulf of Naples or the Gulf of Salerno. Once you have arrived in Ravello, we will visit Villa Cimbrone and its gardens offering breathtaking views all over the Amalfi coast. After lunch, you will get to know the “Amalfitana”, the coast road built by the Spanish centuries ago.

Day 3:
Amalfi and Vietri sui Mare

After breakfast you’ll take a different road to the Amalfi coast. Take a walk through the old town of the former Maritime Republic Amalfi, namesake of the entire region, and visit the cathedral that was built from two churches. Later, we’ll reach Vietri sul Mare in the Gulf of Salerno. Here you’ll have plenty of time to explore the town and enjoy lunch. Going back you’ll also follow the coast with its azure blue sea and the isle of Capri on your left and bright limestone on your right. After a day of driving we’ll wind down by having dinner in the old town of Sorrento.

Day 4:
Boat trip to Capri

Hardly any Mediterranean island is associated with the 1950s like Capri. The island has been a popular refuge for artists, intellectuals and celebrities in the past. Under Emperor Tiberius, Capri was the seat of government of the Roman Empire for a decade. We set off from Sorrento in the morning by boat to visit and enjoy Capri. In the course of the afternoon our trip ends again at the airport of Naples.
